Chandigarh, December, 21:- Padma Bhushan Abhinav Bindra, Arjuna Awardee for shooting and Olympic Gold Medalist in Shooting has flagged off the “Swachhta Run” organized by Municipal Corporation Chandigarh under IEC activities of Swachh Bharat Mission at Sukhna Lake today morning.
Capt. Manoj Khatri, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, senior officials of MC and prominent dignitaries of city were present during the occasion. Near about 500 people participated in this run including students from various schools. The run started at 8.45 a.m. in the morning from Sukhna Lake and ended near the High Court chowk.
After the completion of the run, Abhinav Bindra distributed certificates to the participants. During the occasion signature campaign was also started by the chief guest and certificates were distributed to 30 “Swachh Grahis”.
While addressing the gathering, Abhinav said that this Swachhta Run has been organized to create awareness about “Swachh Survekshan-2017” and cleanliness under Swachh Bharat Mission. He appealed to all citizens of clean city to participate to make their city No.1 in the coming Swachh Survekshan-2017 scheduled to be started from 4th January, 2017 by joining hands with the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh in cleanliness drives and by downloading Swachhta app in their mobile phones

He said that it was appreciable initiative of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh to resolve the problems of citizens of Chandigarh through receiving complaints with photographs on “Swachhta app”. He said people can give ranking of the job done by Municipal staff through this app.
