Chandigarh, 10th April, 2017:- Two teams of young students of CCET Diploma wing of CSE Department were selected  to represent Chandigarh At Smart India “HACKATHAN-2017” under the team leadership of Shivam Bhushan and Bikramjit Singh. These young students  made CCET diploma wing proud by successfully participating and were appreciated for their creative projects being youngest as Diploma Students among all the other elder candidates from engineering institutions throughout various states of India. The Students participated in program of Ministries of Department of Industrial Policy and promotion(DIPP) at Jaipur and other by Ministry of Civil Aviation at Allahabad respectively.
These teams of young students from CCET diploma wing were the only two team from Chandigarh who were among 1,266 teams who were shortlisted out of 10,000 participants on the basis of their project for the finale  out of 7,531 teams of approximately 42,000 students who responded to this event.  Students developed a unique & handy mobile app for meeting planner & management. This app has been developed to reduce the unnecessary paperwork and help in quick dissemination of the information related to meeting held and will bring efficiency & transparency in daily day- to-day work of a department.
The entire team completed their project with rigorous hard work of continuous coding for almost 36 hours. The judges praised their work even though they couldn't win cash prize but being the youngest participants competing with students of Higher Education, IIT and Phd level Students from prestigious institutions through out India.
Students are thankful to College authorities and Chandigarh administration who kept faith in their creativity and gave them an opportunity to  participate in such a Mega Event conducted by AICTE and MHRD,Govt. of India.
Our Worthy Prime Minister also addressed &  interacted with all the participants present at HACKATHAN 2017. Our students felt lucky to be part of the National event  *SMART INDIA.*  under National policy of *MAKE IN INDIA*
The Students who participated from are Vibhu Prashar, Rajneet,Geeta,Simran,Rajat  ,Santosh,Avinash,Mohita,Mehakpreet,Anmol at Jaipur and Allahabad.
Smart India Hackathon 2017 is a part of our Honourable Prime Minister’s   Digital India Initiative, the Smart India Hackathon is intended to promote innovation and out-of-the-box thinking in young minds, especially engineering students. The hackathon focused on the problems of social importance identified by 29 ministries and departments of the government and they identified 598 problems to which 42000 students responded. The event started at 8 am on Saturday across 26 locations in the country.
