Chandigarh : As part of various activities being
undertaken by Chandigarh Division on the occasion of LIC’s 61st
Anniversary & Insurance Week Celebrations, towards its social initiatives Tree
Plantation was carried out extensively at premises of Govt.
Model Sr.
Secondary School , Sector 46-D, Chandigarh
Sh. K.S. Johar, Marketing Manager along with
members of special team constituted for this special drive to Save Environment i.e.
Paramveer, Chanchal Bisht, Ramesh Kumari and other officials from
Divisional Office including all Heads of various Departments, planted various
kinds saplings in the open lawn area of the above school. The plants were provided by the Government
Nursery. On this occasion, Principal of the School Darshanjit Singh, Vice-Principal
Binoy Kumar Bhattacharjee also planted many saplings along with their full
team of teachers and students.
The school has its own nursery and green
house maintained by their Eco-Club named SOHANJANA fantastically, which has been awarded Best Eco Club in 2003 by Horticulture
Deptt., UT Chandigarh for consecutively three years. We selected this school for
sapling plantation because of their special focus and infrastructure provided
like Bio Compost Plant and Rain Harvesting etc. The Principal of the school
appreciated the noble and social initiative by LIC while welcoming all the
officials. The co-ordinator Gurvinder Grewal managed the entire drive
very efficiently.

necessary infrastructure for this special drive. In the last light refreshment
was served to all participating officials by the school.
