Chandigarh, 24th November, 2018: The most awaited annual event of the City Beautiful, the
Chandigarh Carnival 2018 was today inaugurated by Smt. Kirron Kher, Hon’ble
Member of Parliament, at leisure Valley Chandigarh in the presence of Sh.
Jitender Yadav, IAS, Director Tourism and other officers from Chandigarh
Administration and Municipal Corporation.
The Member of
Parliament flagged off the Carnival Parade showcasing the beautiful and
creative floats designed by the students of Arts College, CITCO and Chandigarh
Tourism (depicting the major tourist spots in Chandigarh), Education
Department, Home Science College.
The floats designed on
the Gandhi theme had different components depicting the lifestyle of the iconic
leader. The colorful rally went around the City and attracted the denizens to
the much loved Chandigarh Carnival. For car lovers, a Vintage car display has
been set up at the Government Museum & Art Gallery, Sector 10, Chandigarh.
As a special gesture
to commemorate the150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Smt. Kirron Kher
released the huge bunch of white balloons to spread the message of peace and
harmony.
The Chandigarh
Carnival 2018 consist of stalls exhibited by various academies, NGO's &
Govt. Departments who have displayed various art & crafts. The day long
Cultural Programmes by various artists/performers, Amusement Park, Joy
rides with various fun & frolic activities & Cartoon characters
attracted the people.
To satiate the
appetite of food lovers, food Stalls have been installed by CIHM, AIHM, CITCO
and much more. The 1st day of the Grand Carnival 2018 witnessed a Bollywood
Musical Nite LIVE by "SHAAN" which unfolded at 7:00 p.m. . Shaan
performed on his famous melodies which enthralled the audience.
The Grand Carnival
aims at providing a common platform to the residents, wherein they can come and
share their talent with the masses. All the three days of the Carnival are well
planned and packed with numerous activities. Competitions and events for every
generation and taste of people are framed, so that everybody gets a chance to
showcase their talent.
