Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) in collaboration with University

Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized 15 days refresher course in

Commerce and Management on the theme “Emerging Issues in Management” which commenced

today.

        Prof. Bhagwati Prakash Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Gautam Buddha University,

Noida was the chief guest of the event.  He acquainted the participants about the

relevance of the refresher course owing to various emerging issues in education and

teaching.  He emphasised the need to develop internal locus among graduates and

postgraduates  and also re-orient the curriculum in a way to cultivate the

entrepreneurial skills among them. He accentuated the gravity of promoting Make in

India and by-India products so that India does not remain a nation of merely

assembly lines.

        The guest of honor Prof. V.R. Sinha talked about success stories of home-

grown brands like Nirma and Redbus. Building on Prof. Sharma’s insights, Prof. Sinha

accented the substance of entrepreneurial instincts and attitude, rather than

professional degrees, to devise pioneering business ideas.

        Prof. S.K. Tomar, Honorary Director, Human Resource Development Centre,

emphasised on the objectives of the course framed by HRDC and also highlighted the

need to upgrade the  skills in the ever changing environment.

        Chief Coordinator of the Department, Prof. Meenakshi Malhotra and

coordinators of the course Prof. Meena Sharma and Prof. Purva Kansal, emphasised on

the qualities of teachers and teaching in the globalised scenario. They highlighted

the idea of refreshed knowledge being a necessity in the world that is perpetually

getting smaller owing to stable economies, technology and internet.  Building the

premise for the course, they said that the topics discussed in this course would

vary from current issues in Management Research, Marketing, Finance and Human

Resource Management. The inaugural session concluded on the positive note of

highlighting the methods to fulfill the vacuum in teaching due to changing

technology, ethics and value systems.

        The inaugural session flagged off the course which was followed by an ice

breaking session conducted by Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Dean College Development Council

and Professor of UBS. Prof. Kaushik conducted online interactive gaming sessions to

acquaint the participants with each other.
