To mark the beginning of nationwide celebrations of the 75th anniversary of India's Independence “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav”, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Sh. Narendra Modi launched the celebrations on gigantic scale. In this regard, Chandigarh Administration has also begun the celebrations followed by various events.

 A cycle rally has been organised today. Sh.V.P.Singh Badnore, Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at War Memorial, Sector-3,  Chandigarh along with Sh.Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary, Sh.Mandip Singh Brar,IAS,Deputy Commissioner, Sh.K.K.Yadav,IAS,Municipal Commissioner, Sh. Vinod P Kavle, IAS,Secretary Cultural Affairs and other senior officials of Chandigarh Administration. The Chief Guest also participated in the cycle rally along with officials of Chandigarh Administration to motivate students participating in the same. The cycle rally culminated at Tagore Theater, Sector-18, Chandigarh.

 The Chief Guest also inaugurated a Photo exhibition at Tagore Theatre showcasing India@75 represented by Mrs. Devpreet Singh, ADG, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. He also lauded efforts of the organisers on the commencement of 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav' to mark 75 years of India's Independence.

 Meanwhile, Seventy-five weeks ahead of 75th Independence Day, Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi launched “Azadi ka Mohtsav”,today.The Live streaming of the event of Sh. Narender Modi,  Hon'ble Prime Minister of India's launch of celebrations of 75th anniversary of India's Independence 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav' at Sabarmati, Gujarat took place at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh which was attended by students and administration officials.

A cultural program was also organized by Department of Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh Administration presenting the celebration of the indomitable spirit of the country.

Other events like Essay Writing and Painting competition was also held at GMSSS-21 and GMSSS-18 on the same line of Independence @75.

The celebrations throughout the year will also witness multiple events highlighting the freedom movement of the country and its journey in the last 75 years.
