“Main accused Jagdish Bhola and Jagjit Chahal had named Majithia in confessional statements”
Amritsar, 18 January 2017
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today raised serious objection to an attempt by Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Punjab Police to absolve Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia from the Rs.6000 crore drug racket and blamed Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal for influencing and disrupting the investigation in this case.
Himmat Singh Shergill, chairman of legal cell of AAP said that the SIT report, as per media, reports, submitted in Fatehgarh Sahib court on January 10 last has omitted the names of three Canada based drug smugglers Satpreet Singh Satta, Parminder Singh Pinda and Amarinder Ladi involved in the international drug racket of which Bikram Majithia was the the kingpin. On the basis of SIT reports Jagdish Bhola known as drug lord was also acquitted by the court in two cases and will also get clean chit in the third case.
Shergill who is contesting from Majitha against Bikram Majithia said that PPCC president Capt Amarinder Singh had scuttled the move for CBI probe into the drug racket to save his nephew Bikram Majithia. He said that Capt Amarinder had gone against the party line and approached AICC president Sonia Gandhi to avert arrest of Majithia by Enforcement Directorate. Later Narender Modi Government transferred the ED investigation Officer Niranjan Singh.
Shergill said that Canada based NRI Anup Singh Kahlon was arrested by Fatehgarh Sahib Police headed by SSP Hardayal Singh on March 13, 2013 with synthetic drugs. On the confession of Kahlon, the names of Jagdish Bhola had came to light and he had named Bikram Majithia as king pin of the drug racket. The name of Majithia was also endorsed by two co-accused Manjinder Singh alias Bittu Aulakh and Jagjit Singh Chahal both owners of pharma company later arrested by Police.
Shergill quoted from a statement given by Bittu Aulakh to Enforcement Directorate on August 6, 2014. It read, “Majithia had introduced Satta as his best friend to me. I used to find Satta at the residence of Majithia at 43, Green Avenue, Amritsar”. Aulakh also admitted before ED officers that he introduced Satta and Pindi to pharma company owner Chahal.
Shergill said that the names of Satpreet Singh Stta and Parminder Singh Pinda have also figured in FIR No. 56 of 2013 in the Banur Police station. Their role in the drug case was never investigated by the Police.
He said that Punjab Police had stopped investigation into the drug racket after these accused in confessional statements spilled the name of Bikram Majithia. SSP Hardayal Singh who was investigating the case was shifted to Ferozepur in first week of December 2014 he was and also detached from the case. He said that Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal had disrupted the investigation to save Bikram Majithia and didn’t allow investigation to progress.
Shergill said that neither Punjab Police and nor SIT headed by Ishwar Singh called any of three Canada based smugglers to appear for investigation. He said that no formal summon or look out notice was issued to join NRI friends of Majithia in the investigation. He said that SIT has largely relied upon the reports prepared by Punjab Police and submitted in the court before SIT was formed.
Shergill has now appealed to Punjab and Haryana High Court to take over the responsibility of probing drug racket and appoint a sitting judge of the High Court to expose the international drug racket. He said that without the interrogation of two NRI’s, it would not be possible to reach at the bottom of the case. He said that Punjab Police and CBI were working under the influence of SAD-BJP alliance government in Punjab and at the center.
He hoped that justice would prevail and the Hon’able Punjab and Haryana High Court would take the drug case to its logical end.
