Chandigarh, October 4: Carmel Convent School hosted a 25 member delegation from Malaysia led by Mr. Mohamed Maliki, Director, International Youth Centre, Malaysia along with American Gandhi Bernie Meyer.
‘In January last Carmelites visited Malaysia and now this was a reciprocal visit by their Malaysian friends, shared Sister Mary Supreeta, Principal of the School. She further added that learning about rooftop harvesting of vegetables and fruits during their visit to Malaysia, they started a similar initiative here at their School Campus. She also added that such exchange visits have a life-changing impact on every student who undertakes it. As students achieve fluency in a new language, make lifelong friendships, and gain appreciation of host country and culture.
School students welcomed their new Malaysian friends with flowers and School Band salute, later they were introduced to School and a colourful cultural programme of Bhangra and other folk dances was also organized in honour of foreign guests.
Addressing the audience Mohd. Maliki said that he’ll like to see this India-Malaysian Exchange Programmes grow more in times to come. He also mentioned that ‘Simple exchanges can break down walls between us, for when people come together and speak to one another and share a common experience, then their common humanity is revealed’.
