Opening Ceremony of 62nd National School Games starts in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 11^th Nov, 2016: The 62nd National School Games in the discipline of Baseball (U-19) Boys & Girls were inaugurated today by Sh. Sarvjit Singh IAS, Finance cum Education Secretary, Chandigarh Administration at G.M.S.S.S, Sector 37-B.This NSG is organised under the aegis of S.G.F.I. The opening ceremony started with the welcome address followed by flag hoisting, march past by the 14 contingents from different States, UT’s and units of School Games Federation of India. This was followed by oath taking ceremony and a gymnastic show put by young students of G.M.H.S, Sector43.
Four schools G.M.S.S.S-37B, G.M.S.S.S 37-D, G.M.S.S.S.-35D& G.M.H.S 42 have been shortlisted as stay venues for this event. The matches will be played at 5 play venues -G.M.S.S.S35, G.M.S.S.S.37-B, G.M.S.S.S.23-A, G.M.S.S.S.40 & G.M.S.S.S.-15.A control room has been set at G.M.H.S Sector 42,Chd.Committees have been formulated and key departments mobilized for the smooth conduct of these games.
A colourful kite symbolic of opening ceremony was released by the chief guest. Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director School Education, U.T., Chandigarh and other officers of Education Department were also present on the occasion.
