Mohali 10 April 2017 : IISER Mohali in association with Society For Library Professional (SLP) and SLA-Asian Chapter organized the 6th international Library and Information Professional Summit(ILIPS-2017) on Dynamics of Library for Excellence in Electronic Revolution. The conference will be for 3 days from 6th-8 April 2017 at the serene campus of IISER Mohali. There are more than 200 participants from across the globe, came to deliberate on the contemporary issues on the subject while taliking at the inaugration,Dr. Debel C.Kar, University Librarian of Ambedkar University welcome all the participants on the behalf of SLP. He gave a snapshot that how ILIPS has evolved over the years. Dr. P.K. Jain, Librarian , IEG gave a complete overview of this 3days conferences. In his talk, he mentions that leading and distinguish speaker from countries like INDIA, Germany,Iran,China,Indonesia,Philippines and Thailand are going to share there views ideas and experiences with the august gathering. The most important and attraction of the conference is the presence of Ms.Dee Magnoni, SLA president. In her special address, she emphasied on the salient issues which are of great importance at the global level for the special library countries are concern, such as -information professionals sucess factors: Community Diversity, building community: leadership training renewed focused around unit engagement; communication, and partnership. Prof. N.Satayamurthy Director IISER in his presidential address discussed and enumerated on Chandigarh Region innovation and knowledge cluster. How it is taking stride towards enterprunorship in the country. He also mentioned that special emphasis were given to libraries development to achieve research excellence. Prof. Arun Kumar Grover the chief guest of the conference and VC of Panjab University in his inaugural address mentioned that there is a rising trend of libraries from a conventional system to modern system. He also mentioned that in today's context core competency of library professionals should be developed appropriately to meat the rising challenges. She categorially thanked Ms. Dee Magnoni SLA Preseident for bringing up those contemporary issues to the for front. He also mentioned that there should be network of clustered organization and institutions who are working in the similar areas of research. Last but not the least, Dr. P.Visakhi, Librarian IISER thank all the participants, invited speakers and sponsors for sporting this 6th edition of ILIPS. During the inaugural session following awards were conferred to SLP Asian professional award sponsored by Mohan Law House to Dr,Usha M.Munshi, SLP information professional award to Dr, Rajiv Bij, SLP PK Jain young professional award to Dr, Amit Kumar.
Dynamics of a library for excellence in electronic revolution provides the insights to the present electronic revolution in libraries. The volume is intended to dispel ideas that change is editable and still, the libraries will remain visible with electronic revolution. The book discusses how re-invasion of library spaces can help in changing perspective.
The book is a collection of 56 selected contributions presented at international conferences on library and professional summit(SLIP-2017) held at IISER, Mohali , INDIA. It gives the perspective through national and international contributions on how to re-envision the spaces in changing prospective where physical and virtual and are blending.
The book also discusses some of the emerging and innovative technology applications in libraries including the issues of the collection development and management in the electronic age. Another cardinal vertue of this book can be found in its emphasis on service to library users based studies which form the crux of the volume. The chapters range from conceptual to actual implementation and case studies.
