• ACTION IN LINE WITH THE GLORIOUS LEGACY OF PUNJAB POLICE TO SERVE THE PEOPLE OF STATE DILIGENTLY- SAYS CP
Jalandhar, April 13()--()--In a humanitarian act, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police rescued around 250 truck drivers who were stranded in the Kutch region of Gujarat while taking up the matter which the concerned administrative and Police authorities in the state.
Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police Jalandhar Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that through a video viral on social media the Commissionerate Police had came to know that these truck drivers from Punjab were stranded in the Sabarkantha district of Gujarat due to the lockdown. He said that acting immediately he constituted a team of officers under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. HS Bhalla to verify the facts and thereby contact the truck drivers. Mr. Bhullar said that subsequently the team verified the video and found that the drivers were really in dire straits.
The Commissioner of Police said that besides taking up the matter with the concerned district administration in Gujarat, the team also roped in Mr. Harpreet Singh, a Jalandhar based journalist in Gujarat for helping the truck drivers. He said that after the team actively persuaded the matter with the Gujarat administration, a team of officers from the civil and Police administration contacted the truck drivers and provided them the requisite help. Mr. Bhullar said that after ensuing the necessary proviso of food, boarding and lodging the administration allowed the movement of the trucks to their destinations.
The Commissioner of Police said that besides maintaining law and order in the district, the Commissionerate Police was always ready to provide a helping hand to the people in this hour of crisis. He said that this was in line with rich legacy of the Punjab Police to assure timely help to the needy people. Mr. Bhullar said that the Commissionerate Police would further continue its endeavor to facilitate the public in coming times too.
