Chandigarh

Under Rotary Rahat Project, Rotary Club of Chandigarh today distributed ration kits containing 15 Kg. of ration and cooking oil to 86 families of Colony No.4.  Under this project more than 250 ration kits are being distributed in various colonies. The need of this project was felt as Anganwadies were closed and mid-day meal that was being provided to children in the anganwadies had stopped due to the pandemic. Further family income has been reduced due to pandemic, and the children are bearing the brunt of lack of food, and their nutrition is suffering. Having identified this need, Rotary Club decided to reach out to provide Rahat to such families.

Rtn. Sangita Vardhan was instrumental in this Project, as she sent out her team of volunteers who carried out a survey to identify those families who have young children and require assistance.

President Sukhjiit Singh Gill said that this project was the need of the hour as many children were suffering due to poor diet during the pandemic. Initially the distribution of ration will continue for three months and each month these ration kits will be distributed to the identified families, so that the young children get adequate nutrition. Thereafter, fresh evaluation will be undertaken and ration will be then provided to those families who still require assistance.

President Sukhjiit Singh Gill was accompanied by Rotarians Gurvinder Singh Saggu, Vinod Kapoor and Dr. Seema Gupta.
